Rome

In ancient times all roads led to Rome, the center of the known world. Rome of course is long gone, but it seems proposed solutions to all issues facing our country lead in the same direction, serfdom.

We have seen government taking over major industrial companies; the healthcare industry; and regulating the economy as never before. At the same time, we see the rights of individuals to be secure in their property and person threatened at all corners.

Enlarging the roll of government in our lives comes at the expense of individual freedom. It is simple and obvious that government can only work through coercion and ultimately violence.

Free men and private enterprise work through choice, convincing citizens that their product offers more value than another product or approach. There are two options Choice or Coercion. Everything else is a shade of gray.

For decades Americans have given up freedom in a variety of ways a tiny bit at a time. Death by a thousand cuts. Government says citizens should not take action against a criminal, rather to call police (government) making that same citizen a hostage in his own community.

Citizens have been told by governments that they must pay a little more money here and there one year to the next to assure education for children, better roads, and better more professional government, etc. etc. At the same time all levels of government have grown exponentially.

For decades Americans have been told we must reduce our standard of living, give up our cars, pay more for goods and services, and reduce consumption to save the environment. Now, it is widely understood that global warming is a fraud. Yet calls for Americans to change and pay continue.

In the 2010 elections voters said STOP, but our national government is not listening. Those that control the workings of government have an agenda. Their agenda is not an American one. Americans must learn to say no to the siren song of government enablers to turn the tide.

We are the new David facing a government Goliath. A government whose mask of honest broker is slipping. One whose true nature of tyranny, insider dealing and arrogance is becoming clear. It is also clear that many of those who spoke in the name of the poor and downtrodden were in fact tools of corrupt self interest.

Support ideas, arguments, and politicians who support the individual over government.
