Freedom is about choice

Now that some of the details of the new democrat health care reform have hit the street America has had a massive anxiety attack.

Town Halls the favored method of progressive elites to package and persuade citizens that the progressive product of the day is OK, are turning into battlegrounds. Congress people are turning reclusive. They now will be unable to go back to the halls of privilege and say, yes the people want it, they told me so.

Lost in the discussion of this provision or that, is the idea of choice. You remember choice, the meme of  progressives in the abortion battle. You have heard the lectures from progressive leaders about our bad habits, smoking, eating, owning SUVs, etc. You hear helpful public safety reminders to wear your seat belts and don’t use your cell phones while driving.

Whatever the merits of these little lectures, they illustrate life is about choice. As free people we make choices about all manner of things every day. You may not like the choices I make, and I may not like the choices you make. That’s OK, the choices I make are my right and prerogative as a free American.

Healthcare Obama style is all about reducing our choice despite assurances to the contrary from legislators who have not read the bill.

Why is government so focused on reducing and controlling the choices we make?  If I want to have my tonsils out, I can. The government has no business saying no, that is not cost effective. What does the government know about cost anyway? What does Obama know about cost?

Free people are free to make choices. Slaves have other people make choices for them, for their own good. Sound familiar?

And no Mr. Obama, I am not going to ‘get out of the way’so you can ‘fix’ anything. I am a free American, I do not bow to kings,  or imperial presidents.
