The passing of Michael Jackson is a sad day as a talented, creative musical genius has left us. There will be no more . But in the case of MJ he has left us richer and better. As a legend of his era, he joins Elvis and Sinatra as icons of their generations, the greatest in our music history.
We loved him with the Jackson 5, we loved him in the 80′s grooving to “Beat It” and “Thriller.” The new millenium was not kind to him. Like Elvis before him, his demons brought him down from the pinnacle of fame and fortune, and drove him relentlessly through the fortune his great skills built. His end will be the stuff of urban legend.
But we are blessed that he was part of us. We should enjoy his legacy and forgive his failings. He would want it that way. He was not “Black or White, he was the “Man in the Mirror”. We will remember “The Way You Make Me Feel” the way you made us feel, the way you rocked our world.
Rest in peace.
